Structure: Aquamarine is a variety of the mineral beryl which has the chemical composition Be3Al2(SiO3)6. Beryl can be many colors but when it's blue or blue-green it is called aquamarine.
Aquamarine is a stone of courage and promotes tolerance and offers support during difficult situations. It reduces stress and quiets the mind. It filters information reaching the brain and clarifies perception, sharpens the intellect, and clears up confusion. It clears blocked communication and promotes powerful self-expression. It stimulates the flow of energy in communication from the heart to the throat, assisting one in speaking one’s deepest and most heartfelt truth. This crystal is helpful in understanding the underlying emotional states and interpreting how we feel.
Aquamarine helps to balance excessive anger or fear and assists one in clearing patterns caused by past emotional, physical or verbal abuse, It is an excellent crystal for children who have been through traumatic situations and have disassociated from their emotional bodies or who are acting out their emotions in an aggressive way.
Aquamarine sharpens intuition and opens clairvoyance. It is a wonderful crystal for meditation as it invokes high states of consciousness and spiritual awareness and encourages service to humanity. It cleanses and aligns all chakras.
Aquamarine helps counter infections and is especially useful for laryngitis, strep or sore throat, swollen glands, thyroid problems, and diseases of the jaw. It harmonizes the pituitary and the thyroid regulating hormones and growth. It’s useful for counteracting short or long-sightedness and it calms overreactions of the immune system and autoimmune diseases. It supports the healing of inflammatory diseases of all types. It supports the healing of eczema, hives, rosacea, and psoriasis. It can help one avoid outbreaks of herpes and it can help curb allergy symptoms.
As Aquamarine is a Water element stone it promotes movement and release which is a vitally important act in the process of growth: “If you love something, set it free. If it’s yours, it’ll come back to you. If it doesn’t, then it never was!” Aquamarine reminds us to “give away” our attachment to our own creations, releasing their hold over our present reality. When we release the essence of what we wish to create, the Universe will provide the perfect form of its manifestation.
In ancient lore, Aquamarine was believed to be a treasure of mermaids and it was used as a talisman to bring good luck, fearlessness, and protection to sailors.
Aquamarine reminds us that progress is the law of life.
